In the guide How to Lock A Bike, I included a video created by the film-making Neistat brothers where they locked their own bikes in public places around New York, and attempted to ‘steal them’ using common tools such as bolt croppers in broad daylight.

The video dispels a common myth that locking your bike in a busy place will help keep it safe. Nobody batted an eyelid, except one guy at the end who offered advice on a better approach to breaking the lock.
